Natural Hair Two Week Styling: Protective Style to Out Style

Hey There! How are you doing!!? :0)

This is a style that I turn to quite often. It lasts a long time and it is very easy to do.

And of course… I just think it’s a cute style!!

The products and tools used are as follows:

      Spray Bottle w/ water
       Rat tail Comb for parting
Styling Product (in this case I used Miss Jessie’s Curly Pudding)
Butterfly Clips
Detangling Tool

I love protective styles that you can turn into something else later. You get the best of both worlds, with half the work!

Those styles usually last a little longer too!!

It was very simple to do… Check out the tutorial!

As always… Let me know if you have any questions! :0)

See you in the next video!

Did you have to add any product after taking the twists out?

    • luvbeinnatural luvbeinnatural says:

It’s not necessary. I didn’t this time. But sometimes as I take them down, I might coat my fingers with coconut oil or a light oil like that. But when I re-twist or braid at night, I do add a little leave in conditioner.

Do you always use sulphate shampoos to wash out MsJessies products? I love it but it does leave product build up on my hair.

With the use of the hair mayo, do you also find it necessary to use sulphate shampoos to rainse out residue?

    • luvbeinnatural luvbeinnatural says:

I usually do use a sulfate shampoo. I use the Trader Joe’s Nourish Spa Shampoo. It works well for my hair and is gentle. But it does have sulfates in it. So it does get rid of any product build up that I may have. I usually use that shampoo about every two weeks. Other than that, I co-wash.

Hi! Sorry but I am back with another question on pretty much the same topic.:((. My question now is, Do you still use the organic root simulator hair mayo?

    • luvbeinnatural luvbeinnatural says:

Yes I do! I just used it last week. But this week I am going to try Karen’s Body Beautiful. But I usually use one of the two.

Hi!! I was wondering a little about the twists you did…do you start off with a three strand braid and then go off into the two stranded twist or do you do it two stranded from the beginning?
Oh,and the product you used, don’t think I’ve ever seen it before, not when I used to live in the Caribbean or where I live now(Sweden). Would I get a similar effect if I used some sort of gel?? Thanks much! :D

    • luvbeinnatural luvbeinnatural says:

Yes, I started out with a braid in this particular video. sometimes I do, sometimes I don’t. I believe you can get a similar look with gel. Just make sure not to use too much, so that your hair isn’t hard when the gel dries. Also remember to put a leave in conditioner on your hair before using the gel, because gel can be really drying!

  6. Jude says:

I’ve never knew gel could be drying, thanks for the heads up :)

  7. Karen says:

This style is soooo cute, but I have a long way to go before I can do this style.

  8. Yvette says:

Hi, I would like to know, what do you wash your hair with, I don’t like shampoo in my hair, I really have so much to try, like this stuff, i order call chocolashea and Geseen it is a website. thanks

    • luvbeinnatural luvbeinnatural says:

Well Yvette, I use shampoo in my hair. I use the Trader Joe’s Nourish Spa line. But I know Naptural85 on YouTube uses something other than shampoo. Have you seen her video where she goes over it? That might be an option if you want to stay away from shampoo!

  9. Yvette says:

    thanks

  10. Crystal says:

Hi I have had natural hair for my whole life (20yrs)and it has always been shoulder lenght. When ever I do two strand twists my ends are always frizzy so they dont make curls on the ends. Do you have any tips or product suggestions for how a can get my ends to curl with the rest of my hair? thanks

  11. Leah says:

Hello…do you blow your hair out first before styling? Also, what type of moisturizer do you use?

    • luvbeinnatural luvbeinnatural says:

Hey Leah! :0) I’ve only done a blow out twice, and the most recent time it was for mini twists. I use Cantu Shea Butter for moisture right now.

Im jst starting out my natural state. and im TERRIFIED to cut this dead, heat damaged corse, coily, dry, brittle hair off down to my natural hair which is soft thick and very curly. im jst scared of the short and as they say in durham “the ugly stage” lol. how do i get over it. or is there a way i can avoid cutting my hair.

    • luvbeinnatural luvbeinnatural says:

It can be a bit scary. But you don’t have to cut it off. You can transition if you’d like! I’ve seen women transition for years, and then when they cut off the rest of their relaxer, they have two years worth of growth! It just depends on how patient you want to be with your hair during that time. If you do decide to cut your relaxer off sooner than later, the most important thing you will need is confidence! Put on a little make up, pick out a few of your favorite go to earrings, and walk out that door with your head held high! If you rock it with confidence… it’s not ugly! :0) It’s not the hair… it’s the confidence! You have to love you and it will show! :0) Either way, transition or not, I’m sure you’re going to be fierce!
